On the 13th of June we embarked on a hike up Conic Hill, as part of our summer mountain programme, with thanks to funding from the Scottish Mountaineering Trust. It was a day to remember! Situated near Balmaha on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, Conic Hill offers a scenic hike less than an hour away from Glasgow.
The trail, though moderately challenging, rewarded us with stunning panoramic views of Loch Lomond and its islands. As we ascended, the landscape unfolded before us, with lush greenery contrasting against the deep blue waters of the loch.
The summit provided a breath taking vantage point, where we paused to share some lunch, to take in the spectacular scenery, enjoy some chat and of course, capture some great photos. There was a great sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top. We then took the opportunity to explore a little more of Balmaha by walking round the bay to explore the loch beaches and some different viewpoints.
Conic Hill is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of Scotland. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking to try a rewarding outdoor activity, this hike offers a great adventure. We highly recommend it and can’t wait to return!
