Today we had a great session at the Outdoor Wellbeing Hub. It was finally time to harvest all of our potatoes and onions which meant everyone went home with a bag full for their dinner!
The weeds are relentless and we spent a couple of hours digging them out of the ground. Despite this being quite a laborious task, it was great to see everyone get stuck in and afterwards, we all chatted about how therapeutic and calming it was to be doing a job in the garden that has a satisfying end result. It was great to see everyone so engaged and engrossed within nature and everyone commented on how relaxed they felt afterwards – even though it was hard work in the sunshine! We had lots of nice breaks to cool down and a real highlight of the day was making fresh mint tea with mint grown from in our own garden.
After a few hours of weeding and collecting all the goodies from the garden, we spent some time watering all of the plants which would take ages on my own but as a team, it took no time at all! This is what its all about – connecting people with nature and green spaces and working together to achieve a shared goal!
Thank you all for coming and working hard at the garden, your efforts are greatly appreciated and we hope you enjoy the potatoes as a yummy, well earned reward!
